The Challenge

A mid-sized private hospital managed appointments via phone and paper. This led to scheduling conflicts, missed follow-ups, and poor patient experience.

💡

Our Solution

We built MediBook — a full-stack MERN web application with Patient, Doctor, and Admin roles, online scheduling, and email notifications.

The Outcome

MediBook eliminated phone-based scheduling entirely. Appointment conflicts dropped to zero, and doctors gained real-time visibility.

Phase 01

Discovery & Planning

We started with a workflow mapping session — tracing the patient journey from booking to consultation to follow-up. We identified three distinct user roles with separate dashboards and permission sets. The schema was designed around appointments as the core entity, with relationships to doctors, patients, and departments.

Phase 02

Design & Build

The frontend was built in React with separate dashboard layouts per role — a patient-facing booking flow, a doctor schedule view, and an admin analytics panel. The backend REST API handled appointment CRUD, doctor availability slots, and email triggers via Nodemailer. JWT with refresh tokens secured all three role contexts.

Phase 03

Testing & Launch

We ran role-isolation tests to ensure patients couldn't access doctor or admin routes. Appointment conflict logic was unit tested. Email notifications were tested end-to-end. The system was deployed on Railway + Vercel, with separate environment configs for staging and production.

Testing & Launch

"MediBook completely changed how we manage appointments. Our front desk team went from spending 4 hours a day on calls to under 30 minutes."
