Live Platform Preview — Video player, progress tracking & certificate unlock

</> Project Overview

The Challenge

An independent educator with a growing YouTube following wanted to monetize their expertise through a structured online course platform — without relying on third-party platforms that take 30–40% revenue cuts and offer no customization or student data ownership.

💡 Our Solution

We built EduNest — a custom MERN-based LMS (Learning Management System) with two roles: Instructor and Student. Instructors create and publish courses with video lessons, quizzes, and downloadable resources. Students enroll (free or paid via Stripe), track progress, and earn completion certificates.

The Outcome

The instructor launched their first 3 courses within a week of handover. EduNest processed its first 50 enrollments in the opening weekend. The platform now generates 100% of course revenue directly — with zero platform commission — and the instructor has full ownership of their student data and analytics.

Phase 01

Discovery & Planning

The client's key requirement was ownership — of the platform, the content, the student relationships, and the revenue. We scoped a 2-role system with a course builder for instructors (section → lesson structure, video upload, quiz builder) and a learning dashboard for students (progress tracking, bookmarking, certificate download). Stripe was chosen for one-time course purchases with webhook-based enrollment confirmation.

Phase 02

Design & Build

The course builder used a drag-and-drop section/lesson editor with Cloudinary for video storage and FFmpeg for server-side video processing and thumbnail generation. Students accessed a clean video player UI with progress auto-save every 30 seconds. The quiz engine supported multiple-choice questions with instant scoring. Nodemailer sent enrollment confirmations and certificate emails. PDF certificates were generated server-side with the student's name, course title, and completion date.

Testing & Launch

We tested the Stripe webhook flow end-to-end — ensuring enrollment only activated after payment confirmation, not at checkout initiation. Video progress persistence was tested across sessions and devices. Certificate generation was verified for all edge cases (partial completion, re-enrollment). Full cross-device QA before deployment. The instructor was given a full walkthrough of the course builder before handover.

BDPOS handles everything we used to do manually — inventory, VAT, payments. The Mushak challan alone saves us hours every week.
